My Story

Grad Student. Mentor. Public Historian.

I am a first-generation Jamaican student who received my Bachelor's degree in History from Agnes Scott College. During my time at Agnes Scott, I developed a deep curiosity about Black History in the South and the untold stories within it. My senior thesis focused on researching the impact of the Black custodial staff at Agnes Scott, both on and off campus, and their contributions to community and racial uplift. This project inspired me to think critically about the role of labor in shaping the lives of Black individuals, particularly Black women's relationship to labor in the 20th century. I am passionate about sharing not only the results of my research experiences but also the behind-the-scenes aspects of being a graduate student. My goal is to encourage other minority students to pursue higher education.

I am currently a PhD student at Brown University in the History department. My research focuses on the history of African Americans on college campuses in the early 20th century.
